The launch of an all-electric global touring car series would appear to be the perfect tin-top accompaniment to Formula E.
Initially, it’s not too much of a stretch to imagine them teaming up for a race weekend. However, the promoter of the new Pure ETCR series has pitched the two more as rivals.
Francois Ribeiro, the head of ETCR promoter Eurosport Events, reckons the new series will combine the best of the TCR format and World Rallycross to ensure exciting racing.
More intriguing is that he reckons Pure ETCR can teach FE a lesson or two when it comes to improving its sustainability.
